Barbados is the place for a real surfing safari adventure.

Barbados is often visited by many well known world-class surfers and for very good reason.  Due to the natural shape of this island, swells are available from all directions which means you can almost always surf somewhere on the island; if the east is flat, check west, north, or south, it’s bound to be breaking somewhere.

And what better way to find the perfect swell than by car.  Rent  a car from Kingdom Car Rental and enjoy the thrill of finding your perfect spot no matter what your level is.

For the professional and experienced surfer, try the Soup Bowl on Bathsheba beach in the parish of St. Joseph; where many international surfing competitions are held, namely the Reef Barbados Classic.  For those beginners and those learning to surf, the best locations are Brandon’s, Freights Bay or Accra along the south coast of Barbados.

Surf locations on the west coast of Barbados, easy to get to by car, are Maycocks, Tropicana and Batts rock beaches. Depending on the times of year and low pressure systems, all of these locations offer up some good Barbados surf.

The best waves can usually be found between October and March when the swells can reach up to about twelve feet.  However, Hurricane season (June to October) is often a popular time for the thrill seekers. Right before a big storm system, tropical storm or a hurricane hits, the swells are huge and you’ll often see many surfers hitting the shore.
